1. Adventure 200 Wheelchair Marathon Fundraiser

Dennis Kweh suffers from a rare genetic disorder Morquio Brailsford Disease, Spinal Sclerosis and is blinded in one eye due to Glaucoma.  Despite his many medical conditions, hopes to give back to society by reaching out other persons with disabilities.

Dennis, together with START Centre, is organising the Adventure 200 Wheelchair Marathon Fundraiser from 21 to 23 April 2009.  He intends to travel 200km over 3 days around Singapore on a battery powered wheelchair, covering places like East Coast Park, MacRitchie Nature Reserves, Orchard, Shenton Way, HortParks, South Bouna Vista Rd, etc.  He will be on the road continuously for at least 10 hours a day to achieve this aim of covering 200km.  To make this quest even more meaningful, He hopes to be able to raise S$1 for every metre he travels.

If he is successful in this quest, he will be able to raise S$200,000 for SCAS.  Half of the funds raised will be invested in assistive devices like alternative communication devices and computer access devices where Occupational and Speech Therapists can conduct effective assessment and training.  The other half shall be used to help the clients invest in such devices and for the future maintenance of such devices.

Donations can be made from 4 March till 30 April 2009.  Please visit their website at www.A200.sg to find out more about Adventure 200 and how you can help.
